Exercise Rehabilitation & Prescription

Improve strength, endurance, power, and balance

Exercise rehabilitation is a series of planned exercises to maintain or improve flexibility, range of motion and strength with an expected outcome of improved functional limb use. This is becoming a more evidence-based practice and is being much more widely used in the animal world to not only help restore function as part of the rehabilitation plan following injury or surgery but exercise programmes are also being used for increased fitness in the sporting and competitive field and for the management of long-term conditions. Exercise rehabilitation looks to improve strength, endurance, power, and balance.

Exercises to do at home

Exercise prescription is giving owners/carers exercises to do at home in between therapy sessions, clear guidance is given on the type of exercises to do, and a plan can also be emailed to provide guidance, including pictures of the exercises to be done. Every prescription is individually tailored to each dog and owner.

Exercise prescriptions can also be provided to increase/maintain fitness in working and sporting dogs and as part of injury prevention work.
